It’s not yet really cold in Brittany and the courtyard at ‘Le Petit Lapin’ is still full of autumnal colour. This afternoon I spent a lovely hour tidying around the menhir (the large stone in this picture) in the mild November sunshine. The menhir isn’t really a menhir (a monolith, generally set upright for religious purposes)– it’s just a large stone we found in the orchard and moved to what is now a small bed for flowers and shrubs right across from the cottage. Even if I know druids didn’t place it there, I rather like seeing this granite reminder of the area’s prehistoric past among the hydrangeas and lavender.
